Thanks Linda! I couldn't agree more, moving things along is the way to keep it going. :) And I used to be afraid of talking about poo but now it's a lot more natural to me. :)

Nathalie - Great post. Poo is important and I'm glad you're talking about it. Never understood what the hush hush was all about anyway. I always feel the best when things keep moving along!

Hi Evita! You are SO right about that. I had no clue how often I was supposed to go to the bathroom before going raw. I thought every few days was the norm. So you're right on when you say that people might not realize that they are constipated, and since it's such a taboo topic they wouldn't talk about it and find out.

I'll definitely consider a follow-up post. I think it's super important, and I know of people who are dealing with colon cancer. It's nothing to joke about, but we better make light of it sooner rather than later.

Hi Karen! Thanks so much for sharing your story. I guess I should have written about my own before & after. Maybe it'll make for another post. ;) But I can definitely relate, before going raw I was so far from regular it's not even funny!

Yay for smoothies and getting it going! ;)

Nathalie, I have to say this was brave of you to write, but so very necessary for people to know about and hear.

This whole idea of elimination has become taboo in our society and I am not surprised that colon cancer is one of the top 3 leading cancers. Most people I know are constipated and some don't even realize it. They just think it is "normal" to go so little or so sporadically.

Proper elimination is so critical to optimal health and people need to hear about this and start taking this topic more seriously, or at least be more conscious of it. This really also brings light to why 90% of our health is in our intestines...what is going on or not going on there, has a huge effect on our health in so many ways, from weight maintenance to headaches, and even to common infections.

So I have a suggestion for you, maybe since you were brave enough to do this one, you may want to consider a follow up post as to what is "normal" elimination in terms of frequency and type of bowel movements that are healthy.

Great job on this one!

just wanted to say that i am doing smoothies every morning (for about a month now) and raw for lunch. haven't mastered the full day raw, yet. since having my daily smoothies, i go EVERY day!! before that i was talking fiber, magnesium, water, anything and everything just to at least go every other day. i stressed about it, lost sleep over it and worried about it. i can honestly say that smoothies are my best friend and i am so glad i found your site!!
