Hi Geraldine!

I did a little research and yes you can use the Dirty Dozen list to choose non organic fruits and veggies in Australia. It's probably a good idea too. ;)

Thanks for your great question! Have a great day!
Nathalie

I love the Bay Area! All the organic produce is one of the reasons (among many) why I loved living there and would love to return too. :)

I sometimes see organic produce sold for the same or close to the same prices here in Canada as well. Sometimes I see people walk by and say "oh, it's organic" and then go for the $0.25 cent cheaper option... *sigh*

Way to go Carla on using the "dirty dozen" list! :D

I have not been able to successfully garden yet, but I do buy almost 100% organic produce. Thankfully I live in an area (Bay Area) where its easy and not that costly. I have seen conventional produce sell for almost the same as organic in some cases. Some stores don't even sell conventional. If I am traveling away from my food comfort zone with limited options, I adhere to "dirty dozen" list.

I hear you on being exhausted by maintaining an organic garden. ;) It's kind of like nature trying to keep us on our toes, always thinking ahead or even reacting to what else might be happening the garden (bugs, too much rain, etc.)

And I totally agree, organic is worth it in terms of experience and taste. Woohoo!

I totally agree with you on the organic gardening reference toward the smaller yield due to bugs/lack of fertilizer, etc. I've been trying to help maintain an organic garden and it's exhausting!! There are natural remedies to a lot of the problems (different bugs eating various plant leaves, etc.) but organic gardening is a LOT more work than just applying weed killer and fertilizer to help you out. Do I still think organic gardening is worth it? You betcha! Totally. It's an amazing experience and the produce tastes amazing!!!

:-)
Michele
aka Raw Juice Girl
