I think it’s really interesting that raw foods are good for us. I guess it makes sense though, because back in the day we didn’t have the ability to cook. I also wanted to say that I’m afraid of birth control pills and how they’ll affect us in the future.

Hi Mysha! So sorry it took me this long to reply. I honestly think that our bodies need time to adjust and that you might want to visit a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor to see if they can help you with this issue. It's not exactly the easiest thing to solve! *big hugs*

Hi Elisa! I hear you, this is such a scary / weird / worrisome situation to be in. Unfortunately I'm not a doctor and can't speak about whether this is normal or needs to be addressed. The best I can do right now is recommend you to visit a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor, because that's what worked for me. *hugs*

Hi there,

my periods are also irregular and I was worried that there were nutrients that were lacking in my mostly raw food diet. I do still ovulate however. I was on the pill for a whopping 15 years up until almost 3 years ago! i didnt get my period for about 6 months, then on and off every 6/7/8 weeks.ive been on mostly raw for the last year. My acupuncturist has been trying to bring on my period the last 2 times ive seen him and nothing! Funnily enough when i went on a detox a cpl of months ago my period came at exactly 28 days. now i havent seen it for 7 weeks. i just wish i knew if this is something i should worry about or not?!

thanks for any advice

I have a question.
I've been Vegan for about 3 or 4 months now and I still haven't had a period since I went Vegan. I have even tried slipping Vegan a few times, which in return made me very sick, to see if my period would come back. I took Vitamines and yet I still haven't had a period. Is this completely normal? I'm getting kind of worried with the whole no period situation even though it was something I dreaded every month. I would love to know if you have any clue what is going on. Please feel free to email me with any clues or any suggestions.

Thank you.

Hi Zettie!

I totally know how you feel about doing that to your body. (I mean, why is it so easy to get these things anyways?!) I've definitely heard from many women that it took awhile for their periods to return after the stopping the pill. Some older women even said it never returned, but that they weren't too worried since they didn't want to have children anyways. That being said, don't freak out - there are solutions!

I honestly cannot tell you which herbs I used to get my period back because they were in Chinese and because I believe we are all different. From what I've learned, it wasn't exactly my reproductive organs that were having issues, it was my liver, kidneys, and lungs that needed the most "work/support". After those got back into working condition my body restored my other regular functions.

My best recommendation would be to visit a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor and see what they can recommend. I'm still doing research on this topic but unfortunately I'm not an expert on herbs.

Good luck and let us know how the pregnancy goes! ;)
Nathalie

Hi Nathalie,

I just came across your site while searching information about going raw and going off birth control pills. I've been raw for a couple of weeks only and also discontinued my use of birth control tablets (after more than 3 years of continuous use). I can't believe I ever did that to my body! I am wondering about the effects of suddenly not taking the pill anymore. Also, I was wondering which herbs were you taking to make your period regular? My husband and I would like to have our first baby in the near future and I wouldn't want to wait a whole year to have my period again!

Thanks for sharing!

Zettie

Hi Coco!

It seems to be a lot more common than I first realized. I think it's a combination of detox and imbalance that needs righting. I'm glad to hear your period is back.

Did you notice that the one period every 2-3 months happens when you eat a certain way? (i.e. summer or winter, more "hot" foods or "cold" foods?) I'm just curious because I still don't have a complete grasp on the topic. :)

Thanks for stopping by!
