Home Garden Makeover & Redesign to Grow Your Own Food

Today I’m sharing a fun video of the transformation that took place in my backyard.

I never really considered myself as having a green thumb, but after going raw and coming home I realized how much fun it can be to grow your own food. Not only does growing a vegetable garden help you reduce the costs and the impact of shipping food for your consumption, but it’s really fun!

Here’s a quick video that shows my backyard and home garden as it gets a makeover.

Home Garden Makeovers

The redesigned garden is really working well for us. Last year’s garden was great, and we harvested a lot of very delicious vegetables.

I know this year we are going to be surpassing our yield, and we are already reaping the benefits with fresh vegetables like spinach, Swiss chard, baby lettuce, and radishes for our salads. Oh, and running out to the garden to grab some spinach is so much more fun than getting in a car and driving to the store when you run out!

Hopefully this video will inspire you to undertake a little bit of gardening of your own. One thing I would say is to check your home insurance policy before planting anything too close to your property, since the roots could potentially cause structural problems. And remember that you don’t need to have a big backyard to start a garden, in fact, it’s probably easier to start small and expand year after year.

Enjoy!

Love, Nathalie

Aww Thanks Shernell! :) The weeds have been interesting. A bigger garden means more to weeds to remove. Still, it's been really great.

Hi Nathalie,
Your garden looks great! And…it looks like it's warmed up a bit in the last month too! We re-did our garden this year, add a bunch more vegetables than in the past couple of years. I really can't take much credit though…it's my wife who's been daily caring for this plot of land! Enjoy all the yummy goodness you'll get from your time here…

Thank you Lance! It's essentially my pet project, and I think the only thing that could make it better would be to have a pet AND a garden. ;) Someday soon though.

Ooh it's always so exciting for me to read about other people's gardens! It's really great that your wife has a passion for taking care of the garden on a daily basis. I know sometimes life can pull us off the gardening path, but luckily a garden provides so much joy (and food) over time that it's worth it. :)

Hehe, very cool. I had a hard time keeping a straight face when it started raining, and edited out a whole bunch too. ;)

I have my own garden where I grow tomatoes, corn, cucumbers and a few trees with fruits. I would recommend this to anyone that has the space to do so.
